Emma has been playing and teaching in Bellingham and the surrounding areas since 2016. She is Assistant Principal Second Violin for the Bellingham Symphony Orchestra and plays for the Pacific Northwest Opera. She is also an instructor with the Bellingham Youth Chamber Players and the Summer String Academy Orchestra Camp. Currently, she is completing a Bachelor of Arts in Violin Performance at Western Washington University, where she studies with Grant Donnellan. Emma plays in the Western Symphony Orchestra, where she is frequently concertmaster, and also plays in the Scholarship String Quartet and the New Music Ensemble.
Emma began her musical education at the age of 5 in Portland, Oregon. She has participated in many orchestral and chamber music programs including the National Orchestral Institute, Marrowstone Music Festival, Eastman School Symphony Orchestra, Interlochen’s World Youth Symphony Orchestra, Portland Youth Philharmonic, and more. She has been the recipient of several awards including the second place award in the Virginia Glover Competition, the MetroArts Inc Young Artist Competition, and the Jacques Gershkovitch award. Her teachers include Grant Donnellan, Charles Castleman, and Carol Sindell, among others.
