EVE SMASON-MARCUS

Role at Bellingham Music:  Voice Instructor & Coach=

Degree:  Bachelors of Music in Vocal Performance, Western Washington University

Eve grew up surrounded by music, playing klezmer, classical, and jazz on violin and viola and singing in jazz bands, vocal jazz, choir, and musical theater throughout high school.

Eve briefly studied voice at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in NYC. She continued her studies at Western Washington University and completed a Bachelor's of Music in Vocal Performance. In college she played violin and viola in the University's Orchestra, sang in Women's Choir, Concert Choir, and Western Voices, and performed in various opera scenes, aria competitions, and contemporary music ensembles.

Eve currently performs around Whatcom and Skagit County as a singer-songwriter with her original music and as the singer for local band, Groovebot. Eve has a strong jazz and classical background, but finds great joy in old school soul music. Using one's voice to express and create music is a unique and vulnerable experience, Eve believes its important to create a safe space where students can explore how to use, emote, and perform with their voice in a healthy and fun way!
