Philosophy:

Lee Anne is passionate about bringing out a singer’s natural voice and producing a healthy sound in whatever genre and style a student chooses to study. Although she is trained as a classical soprano, she has received training on different styles including CCM/music theater, jazz and other contemporary methods. She enjoys teaching students of all ages and levels and is a great resource for audition preparation. Additionally, Lee Anne enjoys teaching ear training and sight reading with the incorporation of solfege and musical earworms that help students understand and connect with challenging techniques.

 

 

Influences:

Lee Anne is influenced by many artists with differing backgrounds and techniques. Some of these artists include Joan Sutherland, Patsy Cline, Billy Holiday, Rosemary Clooney, Sierra Borgess, Laura Osnes, Aretha Franklin, Puccini, Mozart and many, many more.

 

Bio:

Lee Anne moved to Bellingham, WA in 2009 to pursue a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance at Western Washington University. Here she fell in love with the Pacific Northwest and the people who live in this wonderful city. During her time at Western she performed full roles as La Fee in Massenet’s Cendrillon, Titania in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream as well as performed in numerous opera scenes through the WWU Opera Club. Additionally, Lee Anne was the chair of the WWU Opera Club and the artistic director of their annual Opera Scenes and Aria Competition. In the local area Lee Anne performed as Glady’s Hotchkiss in The Pajama Game at the Bellingham Theater Guild and covered the role of Annie Oakley in Annie Get Your Gun.

 

After finishing her undergraduate degree, Lee Anne moved to the mid-west to pursue a Master of Music degree in vocal performance from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Here she solidified her background in diction, vocal pedagogy, art song and aria literature. Lee Anne was honored to have worked with William Bolcom during his residency to coach his production of A Wedding in which she performed the role of Rita. She additionally performed Giulietta in Les contes d’Hoffmann and Gabby in Cy Coleman’s City of Angels.

 

Other roles include Annina from Verdi's La Traviata, Javotte in Massenet's Manon, La maestro delle novice from Puccini's Suor Angelica and covers of Mimi in La Boheme, and Donna Anna in Don Giovanni.

 

Currently Lee Anne resides in Bellingham, WA where she works as the Program Coordinator and Undergraduate advisor for the department of music at Western Washington University. Additionally, Lee Anne is pursuing a career in opera and has performed with local companies such as Lyric Opera Northwest, Pacific Northwest Opera, Seattle Modern Opera Company, and Puget Sound Concert Opera.
