Role at Bellingham Music:
Orchestral Percussion Instructor
Zach is an undergraduate majoring in Music and minoring in Arts Enterprise and Cultural Innovation at Western Washington University, graduating in 2024. Zach began his musical journey playing viola where he helped tutor younger students. However, after being exposed to Queen and Led Zeppelin, he began to study drum set under prominent PNW drum educator Chase Culp, becoming proficient in a variety of genres and drumming techniques.
Wanting to expand his involvement and knowledge of music, he joined band in sophomore year of High School, participating in marching and concert percussion including positions of leadership. Zach has competed and excelled in both regional and state solo/ensemble competitions. In parallel with his university studies Zach regularly plays in local Bellingham rock bands, accompanies choirs and dance classes, and performs throughout the year with the WWU Symphony Orchestra and was invited to perform with the Skagit Symphony. He also regularly attends Masterclasses and clinics with some of the world’s best and most highly regarded drummers through his Seattle area network of drumming teachers and performers.
Zach believes that a diverse range of performances, genres, and techniques will help students develop proficiency, musicality, and confidence on their instrument and reach their musical goals!
